  • Note:
    Last trend: EB34.0 TR.24

Variables V275 to V414 focus on employment patterns and child rearing. This section encompasses questions TR.1-TR.29 from survey 34.0. Meaningful results for the total population are obtained only on the 34.0 data; for the target group of women and specific needs of this questionnaire topic, one should combine the 34.0 and the corresponding 34.1 data.

According to the survey questionnaire, different subgroups of respondents should have answered certain questions based on their responses to previous questions. These "filters" were not applied consistently in this section. Whenever possible, original data values were maintained. ZA has inserted comments (text between asteriks) along with the question text and code value labels for individual variables, where appropriate, to provide additional information for users of this section of the survey.

?:groupDescription
(de)
  • Since the early nineteen seventies the European Commission´s “Standard and Special Eurobarometer” are regularly monitoring the public opinion in the European Union member countries at times. Interviews are conducted face-to-face, in each spring and each autumn, at all times based on new samples with a size 1000 respondents per country. Separate samples are drawn for Northern Ireland and East Germany. After the EU enlargement in 2004, remaining and new Candidate Countries are also regularly included in selected surveys. The Standard Eurobarometer modules ask for attitudes towards European unification, institutions and policies, complemented by measurements for general socio-political orientations, as well as by respondent and household demographics. Intermittently special Eurobarometer modules extensively address topics, such as environment, science and technology, health or family issues, social or ethnic exclusion, quality of life etc. The “European Communities Studies” 1970-1973 can be considered forerunner studies, as well the “Attitudes towards Europe” from 1962.
