  • "The indifference for the politics or the political commitment and the individualisation are the labels which one uses frequently to characterize the political participation of the young people in Germany. However, the empirical analyses let appear a more complex image: the fundamental desire to undertake and to express its political beliefs remains high. Furthermore, the young people use numerous occasions to make their political messages pass, although mostly it is about punctual activities. The participation of the traditional organisations counting members is sharply rarer and tends to decrease. On the other hand, the groups of the new social movements benefit from a sympathy and from a commitment about stable. The modes of participation postpone according to the sexes, the educational level, as well as among the former and new Landers from Federal Republic of Germany. By placing the comparison between the West and the East in an European perspective, one sees appearing complex relations between the political cultures institutionalized by nations and models of participation of young Germans."Die Autoren verwenden schwerpunktmäßig den DJI-Jugendsurvey 1992 und 1997.
