The next questions deal with your work situation.
By work we mean doing income-producing work, as an employee, self-employed or working for your own family's business, for at least one hour per week. If you temporarily are not working for pay because of temporary illness/ parental leave/ vacation/ strike, etc., please refer to your normal work situation.

/ DK: The first question corresponds to the one of MAINSTAT. / NZ: WORK is based on MAINSTAT mainly. / US: Respondents who answered 'Unemployed, laid off, looking for work' were not asked whether they had ever had a job. They were assigned to ISSP standard code 2 in WORK.
