  • Note:
    / KR: This question was only asked of respondents currently working for someone else and paid.
    / US: UNION was only asked on 4/6 ballots in the GSS. Each of the 2019 and 2020 ISSP questionnaires was asked on 3/6 ballots. The result of this pattern is that all respondents who got the 2019 ISSP questionnaire also got UNION, but only 1/3 of those who got the 2020 ISSP questionnaire got UNION. For the US data, responses to 'Yes, R belongs' were encoded to ISSP code 1 'Yes, currently'. Responses 'No' were coded as ISSP code 3 'No, never'. ISSP code 2 'Yes, previously but not currently' cannot be generated.
