BVQ_30. HHCHILDR
And how many children between [school entry age] and 17 usually live in your household?
Adults of 18 years and older Children between [school entry age] to 17 years of age -> HHCHILDR Children below [school entry age]
This makes a total of how many people?
COMMENT ON HHCHILDR: Depending on interview mode, different options for presenting the questions BVQ_28.-BVQ_31. would be preferable. One option is a household grid that can easily be presented in self-administered modes. In a face to face interview, the interviewer has the chance to ask for the different groups of household members separately and discuss possible inconsistencies, so the above mentioned grid can be broken up into individual questions. ........................................................................................................................................

Note:
/ AU: Many of the respondents did not answer this question. Although it can be assumed for a large part that these respondents do not have children of this age, one cannot be sure. For this reason, the rather few cases originally encoded to 0 were added to code -9 'No answer' with a country-specific answer for Australia 'No answer also including no children of that age'. / CH: The household composition was checked and inconsistencies corrected based on information from the national register. However, if respondents did not answer the question about the household composition at all, as a rule, their answers were left in the dataset as 'No answer' and these were not supplemented with the information from the national register for ethical reasons in the context of sample data. / IN: Enrolment in school takes place at the age of five. / KR: These questions were asked for a maximum of 10 persons. In the ISSP household variables, family members temporarily living elsewhere were excluded and persons living in the household but not part of the family were included. / SE: This question version was introduced in 2016, trying to get correct information regarding the household composition. This is the best solution so far, much less errors compared to previous attempts in former surveys. However, still some respondents do not seem to be able to fill in the right figures. Therefore, the household variables HOMPOP, HHADULT, HHCHILDR, HHTODD may contain some measurement errors. / TH: Primary school starts at the age of 6 years.
