  • Note:
    / DE: The German ISSP 2020 was fielded as mail survey. All instructions reported in this documentation are not directed to the interviewer but to the respondent.
    / DK: The drop-down list for years runs from 1940 and 2002 since the lower age cut-off was 18 and the upper age cut-off was 79 years of age.
    / FI: The lower age cut-off was 15 and the upper age cut-off was 74 years of age.
    / FR: No option of non-response. BIRTH resp. AGE is included in weighting procedure.
    / IS: Year of birth is one of the variables that come with the sample list from the National Registry of Iceland. The sample information was used for those who did not give an answer about their year of birth. Therefore, there are no missing answers in the dataset.
    / JP: Respondents were asked to indicate the era in which they were born and then the year within the era (F2G - Era: 1 Meiji, 2 Taisho, 3 Showa, 4 Heisei; F2N - Year: Meiji 1-45=1868-1912, Taisho 1-15=1912-1926, Showa 1-64=1926-1989, Heisei 1-31=1989-2019).
    / JP: Respondent's sex can be known also from the sampling frame.
    / TH: Data is computed from B.E. to A.D. by minus 543 (fieldwork year is 2564 B.E. which correspondes to 2021 A.D.).
