  • Note:
    / NZ: Actually, the web questionnaire included a filter instruction for respondents who have or have had no paid work currently or in the past.
    / US: The US questionnaire only asks about the current union membership for respondents (and their spouses). As a result, the data omit code 2 'Yes, previously, but not currently'.
    / US: The number of missing answers is very high due to the fact that UNION was only asked on 4/6 ballots in the GSS. Each of the 2017 and 2018 ISSP questionnaires was asked on 3/6 ballots. The result of this pattern is that all respondents who got the 2017 ISSP questionnaire also got UNION, and only 1/3 of those who got the 2018 questionnaire got UNION.
