  • Note:
/ CN: High number of missing values due to the fact that agriculture work is not considered as paid work and spouses/ partners currently working on agriculture or who worked but never did non-agricultural work in the past are filtered out. Additionally, only information on spouse's/ partner's current status is available, no information on the past.
/ SE: Exactly the same wording for SPWRKSUP as for WRKSUP except that the text refers to partner.
/ US: During the interview, respondents were asked the same question regardless of partner or spouse, with a screener to modify question text. The US data capture all spouse variables regardless of habitation status. The US data, however, capture only information from partners if living together, and not information from non-cohabitating partners. Therefore the number of missing answers might be higher for the US than for other countries. In addition, in US data, this question is asked primarily of respondents, and only of spouses or partners if the respondent does not work. This is not in line with ISSP standards, and as such produces a higher proportion of NA responses.
