    / ZA: Given the apartheid history in South Africa, the race categorization of white, black (African), Indian and coloured is very commonly understood in South Africa. This is the most common variable used to categorise various the races. Among the African people there are various tribes, and the most common way – although this is seldom used - to ethnisize the African group would be to use the African language that they speak, i.e. Sesotho, Setswana, Sepedi, Siswati, IsiNdebele, IsiXhosa, IsiZulu, Xitsonga, Tshivenda.
    In terms of the White groups (Europeans) it is fairly uncommon to ask origin country and the only further distinction is again based on language, that is the Afrikaans speakers and the English speakers. Coloured people and the Indian population are generally treated as a homogenous group with no further distinction.
