  • Note:
/ CH: The wording of the question and the answer categories have slightly changed due to the fact that the question is already asked in the module ISSP Work orientation at the beginning of the questionnaire.
/ CZ: It is common in the Czech context to take advantage of a relatively long maternity (28 weeks) and parental (until child turns 3) leave, therefore persons on maternity/ parental leave were not treated as economically active unless they are simultaneously working for pay for at least one hour per week.
/ IS: There are no cases for category 3 'Never had paid work' in WORK. This category was, however, asked.
    / NZ: Derived from questions Q10/ Q32.
/ SE: For this module, the WORK variable was used in conjunction with v20. When cross tabulating these two variables, there was a small inconsistency, some respondents did not give the same answer on both questions. Therefore a filter was created based on information given by both variables. All inconsistent answers were coded as 9, hence the filter contains a higher distribution of response=9 than is usually the case.
