    Have you gone to school or done any type of schooling? What are the highest level of official studies you have done (whether you have finished them or not)? Please specify as much as possible and tell me the level (year) when you finished (or interrupted) them, and also the name of those studies (e.g. 3 years of Primary, Primary, 5th year of High School, Master’s degree, College, Bachelor, PhD, Formative Courses, etc.):

    (INT: If respondent is still studying, write down the last completed year. If he/ she has not completed Primary, write down the number of years he/ she has gone to school. (Codify according to "educational attainment" code.))

  • Note:
    / ES: The interviewer must write down the last year completed by respondent and the name of those studies. Then, he/ she will write the appropriate code according to the card provided in the codebook. This code and the information given by the respondent is revised later on by the coders in the CIS Fieldwork Unit. The different examples given are necessary, since there have been several changes in the curricula over the last 30 years. "Vocational Training, high level" is a degree that gives access only to certain University careers and (University) degrees. Codes 08 and 09 are University degrees (3 years long). Since the full application of the Bologna system, most degrees are 4 years long. Prior to that, most of them were 5 years and some (Technical Schools) more than 5.
