Note:
/ ISSP 1987: Many countries provided ISCO68 codes or national occupation variables. ISCO68 codes (AT, DE, CH: 68-3; HU: 68-4) were transferred into ISCO88 (88-4) codes via an ISCO88 conversion table provided by Harry Ganzeboom. All cases without equivalent in ISCO88 or without further information are coded on code -9996 "Not classifiable; inadequately described". For the national occupation variables for AU, PL and US, see variables AU_FOC87, PL_FOC87 and US_FOC87 in the "Add On" file ZA5891. / ISSP 1992: For a couple of countries ISCO88 codes were already existing (AU, NZ, PL, RU), but many countries still provided ISCO68 codes or national occupation variables. The ISCO68 codes (AT, CZ, DE, NO, SK: 68-3; HU, US: both 68-4) were transferred into ISCO88 (88-4) codes via an ISCO88 conversion table provided by Harry Ganzeboom. All cases without equivalent in ISCO88 or without further information are coded on code -9996 "Not classifiable; inadequately described". For the national occupation variables for IT, PH, SE and SI, see variables IT_FOC92, PH_FOC92 etc. in the "Add On" file ZA5891. / ISSP 1999: Almost all countries provided ISCO88 codes (3- or 4-digit) which were harmonised into the 4-digit format. All cases without value labels are coded on code -9996 "Not classifiable; inadequately described". For country-specific variables on father's occupation when R was 14-16, see variables FR_FOC99 and PH_FOC99 within the "Add On" file ZA5891. Information on father's PRESENT national occupation is available for JP (JP_FOC99) within the "Add On" file, additionally, information on father's PRESENT occupation as ISCO88 3-digit code for IL (IL_FOC99) .
