  • Note:
/ AU: 'In Compulsory military service or community service' not asked.
/ FR: By mistake, the french survey fielded the question for the obsolete variable SPWRKST instead of SPMAINST. Therefore, the data in this variable had to be reconstructed. Please note that the reconstructed data do not perfectly match the categories for SPMAINST. Firstly, respondents with dual status (e.g. retired persons who also self-assess as working for pay) cannot be correctly covered. Secondly, category 2 'Unemployed and looking for a job' may also include respondents who are unemployed but not looking for a job. Thirdly, the French data cannot distinguish between category 3 'In education' and 4 'Apprentice or trainee'. Only the more general category 'In education' was coded. Fourthly and finally, it was not possible to construct category 8 'In compulsory military or community service'. Respondents doing military or community service are most probably included in category 9 'Other'.
/ IS: 'In Compulsory military service or community service' not asked.
Category 5 'Disabled' (“öryrki” in original) refers to those receiving benefits from the state after having gone through an official process of being deemed unable to work based on any type of health condition.
