    Split ballot: mi01-mi04 (alternate questions)

    ALLBUS 2016 used a two-group split-ballot design to increase the total number of questions surveyed in the focus module on ‘Attitudes towards ethnic groups in Germany’.
    Both split-halves contained the same question on respondents’ attitudes towards the influx of different groups of persons into Germany. While both splits used the same basic question, the splits differed in the type of groups respondents were asked about. Split 1 replicated a list of groups that has already been surveyed several times in the ALLBUS program. Respondents in split 1 were asked about: ethnic Germans from Eastern Europe, asylum seekers, migrants from EU countries and migrants from non-EU countries. Split 2 used an updated list of groups that focused more on why people come to Germany than on their geographic origin. This list comprised: different types of refugees (political, economic, refugees of war), different types of workers (from Eastern European EU countries, from other EU countries, from non-EU countries) and spouses or children who come to join their family members already living in Germany.
    As split 2 has not been replicated yet, the corresponding data is not part of this data set. Please refer to ZA5250 instead.
