    Standard International Occupational Prestige Scale (SIOPS) for ISCO-08

    In order to generalize the "Standard International Occupational Prestige Scale" for ISCO-08, the original classification based on ISCO-88 was converted to ISCO-08 (Ganzeboom 2010). In contrast to ISEI, the construction of SIOPS is not based on a reference data set. Instead, the update to ISCO-08 is first and foremost an analytic operation. However, to generate SIOPS scores for aggregate ISCO-levels, weighting factors were needed. These weighting factors were constructed using the original set of data as described in Ganzeboom et al. (1992).

    Please be advised that there are as yet no SIOPS-scores for the incomplete codes and the general categories of ISCO-08. These cases were coded as -32 ‘cannot be generated’.
