  • Derivation of data:
    In the survey, this question was only posed to those participants who stated in lm21 that they watch news programs on private television channels at least occasionally, i.e. respondents who answered “No” (code 2) in lm21 were screened out. In order to simplify the use of the data in analyses, these screened out cases were recoded in the course of data preparation to the valid code 0 "never". Thus, this code now directly reflects the total number of respondents who never watch news programs on private television.

    This variable has been recoded so as to conform with the standardized ALLBUS coding. The sequence of answer categories shown in this documentation therefore deviates from that originally used in the field.

    Sequence of response categories used in the survey:

    1. All 7 days a week
    2. 6 days a week
    3. 5 days a week
    4. 4 days a week
    5. 3 days a week
    6. 2 days a week
    7. 1 day a week
    8. Less often
    9. Never
