  • Derivation of data:
    This variable contains a summary of the available data on household income. For 1980 to 1984 it contains the sum of the respondent’s personal income (V915) and the income reported for any additional members of the household (V1395, V1410, V1425, V1440, V1455, V1470, V1485). When there was no valid data (‘refused’, ‘don’t know’ or ‘no answer’) in any one of these variables, no valid household income was constructed. For 1986 and later, this variable contains the data directly surveyed with the questions documented in V918 and V919. For each of the categories in V919 the mid-point of class entered into the summary. However, the lowest income category 'Under 200 EURO' received the value 150 EURO, while the highest open of '7500 EURO and over' was coded as 8750 EURO.
