    International Socio-Economic Index of Occupational Status (ISCO-68)

    In contrast to social prestige scales based on subjective evaluations of the relative social esteem of occupations, this index of socio-economic status was constructed using empirical data on the level of education and income related to a given occupation. The index scores were calculated for occupations coded according to ISCO-68.
    Cases for which there was no valid ISCO-68 code, could not be assigned an ISEI score. These cases were coded as ‘not classifiable’ (code 0).
