    Split-Ballot: ‘Frequency of Church Attendance’

    ALLBUS 2012 used a two-group split-ballot design to test an alternative wording for the question on frequency of church attendance during childhood. Split 1 replicated a wording also used in other questions on church attendance in the ALLBUS-program. Respondents were asked how often they ‘went to church’ when they were a child. In split 2 respondents were instead asked how often they ‘attended a church service’ when they were a child.

    The data of the two splits are stored in separate variables. The exact wording of the question texts used in the split versions is documented with each variable:

Every two years since 1980 a representative cross section of the population is surveyed using both constant and variable questions.
