    Split-Ballot: Survey Mode

    ALLBUS 2006 used a two-group split-ballot design to test for survey mode effects with regard to four questions on respondents’ attitudes towards foreigners. In split 1 the four questions were read out by the interviewer (CAPI – computer assisted personal interviewing). In split 2 the respondents were asked to read and answer the questions themselves on the interviewers’ laptop computer (CASI – computer assisted self-interviewing).

Every two years since 1980 a representative cross section of the population is surveyed using both constant and variable questions.
