  • Education I: Years in school

AT,CH,DE: How many years from school to university education but without vocational training?
CZ: Can you please count how many years in total you attended school? Include all years spent in any schools, even if you didn't complete the course of study, and/ or years of study in other than full-time education programs including university but not vocational training
DK: How many years of schooling do (full time, not including trainee work etc.) do you have? (subjective measurement) Derived from two variables, one measuring 'years in school', one measuring 'current status' (still at school etc.). In those cases where respondents have answered both questions, the latter variable (current status) is in all instances the 'strongest' variable.
FR: Years in school: derived from - At what age did you finished your studies?
GB-GBN: Years in school: derived from - How old were you when you completed continuous full-time education by subtracting 5 yrs (school starting age) from the answers to the question above
IE: How many years of full-time education did you receive?
NL: Years of schooling following R's sixth birthday included vocational training, part time courses excluded
NO: Years in school after compulsory education
NZ: The values for this variable were calculated from the variable asking for the amount of formal education. The responses almost certainly include some vocational training, and do not distinguish between those who are still at university/ polytechnic and those who are not.
PH: Actual number of years of full-time schooling
RU: How many years altogether did you study? (including vocational training)
SE: How many years have you attended school, all full-time education included?
SI: How many years in regular formal schooling?
US: What is the highest grade in elementary school or high school that you finished and got credit for?
