This study aims to investigate the differences of family values and determinants of the happiness in Korea, China, and Japan. For this research, family modules from International Social Survey Program(ISSP) 2012 are used. The Major findings of this study were as follows: First, the happiness was higher in the order of Japan, China, and Korea, while the satisfaction of family life were higher in the order of China, Japan, and Korea. And also marriage value was higher in the order of Korea, China, and Japan. Cohabitation value was higher in the order of Japan, Korea, and China. But divorce value was higher in the order of China, Japan, and Korea, while gender role value was higher in the order of China, Korea, and Japan. These results showed that traditional and conservative values were coexisted in Korea. Second, the differences of the casual relationship between subjective class identification, socioeconomic status, family values, satisfaction of family life, and the happiness of the three countries are that subjective class identification and satisfaction of family life were found to have a statistically significant positive casual effect on the happiness in all those three countries. But family values were found to have a casual effect only in Korea and China. This means that Japanese were less family value-centered compared with Korean and Chinese.
