?:abstract
  • More than 30 years after the fall of the communist regime, its patterns are still visible in the Czech Republic. Although many studies undertaken in the first years after the transition have shown that popular support for democratic values among citizens was quite high, there was a significant decrease later on. Since this process was more or less similar in all post-communist countries, some authors spoke of a “post-honeymoon effect,” one predominantly caused by unrealistic economic expectations.
