Application for analysis of rare RNAs, such as mRNA or lncRNA is attainable, but mostly for validation purposes, and presumably only for the most abundant molecules, since otherwise quite substantial sequencing depth would be required for significant analysis at the transcriptome-wide level which would increase costs.
