Of 27 proinflammatory and regulatory cytokines and chemokines evaluated, the levels of 24 molecules greatly exceeded those normal for age, while IL-12 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) concentrations were below the normal range, and only IL-1β values remained around the normal values.
