Sum projection of 2 Z-stacks separated 2 µm from each other was done with the freeware ImageJ v1.51 u by Wayne Rasband (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) and images were next automatically quantified with the NIS-Elements Microscope Imaging Software (Nikon).
