In support of this idea, localization and abundance of the protein CENPI on kinetochores is regulated through competition between SUMOylation and SUMO-mediated ubiquitylation by the deSUMOylase SENP6 and RNF4, respectively [63], and the same seems to apply for the CENPA loading factor MIS18BP1.
