Further experiments demonstrated that AFAP1-AS1 was associated with EZH2 and that this association was required for the epigenetic repression of p21, which encodes a potent cyclin-dependent protein kinase inhibitor (CKI), thus contributing to the regulation of both the NSCLC cell cycle and proliferation.
