Clustering of ED visits in relation to day of the week: HD patients typically dialyze three times a week on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or a Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday schedule, and thus experience two short and one long interdialytic interval (i.e. the Friday to Monday interval or Saturday to Tuesday interval, respectively).
