On completion of the experiment, the rats were deeply anesthetized (60 mg/kg ketamine and 7.5 mg/kg xylazine), and the locations of the recording electrodes were marked by passing an anodal direct current of 90 μA for 15 s through selected electrode pairs in each bundle.
