Patients that attended the Leishmaniasis Clinic at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical Alexander von Humboldt, Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia, in Lima, Peru, between January and June 2013 for the examination of skin lesions were invited to participate in the study and evaluated for possible eligibility.
