Detection and isolation of antibiotic resistant strains: We re-suspended swabs in 1 mL PBS by vigorous mixing, then plated 50 µL of the suspension on Mueller-Hinton plates containing antibiotics (ampicillin, sulfamethoxazol, nalidixic acid, gentamicin, tetracycline and chloramphenicol).
