As 18- and 19-year-olds were not interviewed in 1978 and 1994, we used retrospective information collected in women’s lifetime contraceptive histories in the 1988 survey (among those aged 28 and 29 years) and in the 2000 survey (among those aged 24 and 25 years) to reconstruct their use of contraception in 1978 and 1994.
