Enzymatic experiments (a β--galactosidase preferentially hydrolyzing (β1→3)-linked -galactopyranosyl residues and an O-glycosidase treatment liberating a disaccharide) and MALDI-TOF-MS identified the major O-glycoform as a core-1 type structure, β--Galp-(1→3)-α--GalpNAc-(1→O)-, as depicted in Scheme 1.
