In a study of 74 children, as tNNAL increased from 0.05 to 0.35 pmol/ml urine, total cotinine (the sum of cotinine and its glucuronide) increased from 15 to 50 ng/ml urine [25], leaving little doubt that cotinine at these concentrations in non-smokers' urine implies the presence of tNNAL.
