The dose (of ethanol) and/or amount (of sucrose) that could be consumed during this procedure was limited by filling the bottle to a volume equal to the maximum the individual rat had consumed within any of the last two-three retraining sessions, plus one additional ml to compensate for loss/leakage of fluid.
