For the experimental solution, we filled clean dark glass bottles with dichloromethane (DCM) and dissolved ergosterol in it (authentic standard; both compounds were GC grade, from Sigma-Aldrich Chemicals) in a proportion of 25 g ergosterol/1 L of DCM.
