These wedge-shaped patterns of retinal damage are reminiscent of those observed in other types of inherited or acquired retinal degeneration, in which blood vessels ligate bundles of axons, thus producing an intense constriction that leads to axonal transport interruption, loss of retrograde tracing, and loss of RGCs [71,83-86].
