?:about
?:abstract
  • From 1983 to 1986 the Osteuropa-lnstitut München conducted an interview project with Recent German Emigrants (deutsche Spätaussiedler) from the Soviet Union. The aim of the project was to obtain first-hand information on the social, economic and political conditions in the Soviet Union. The present study deals with some basic assumptions of the German interview project. First, the sampling frame and the referent soviet population are defined and explained. Then the criteria are stated, by which the respondents were chosen. A comparison between the socioeconomic characteristics of the referent population, the sampling frame and the respondents reveals that the targets, set for the sampling procedure were met.
