  • Based on empirical data from case studies, this article examines the professional structures and challenges currently faced by educational staff in enterprises. Three phenomena are presented in more detail: On the one hand, there is the development from supply orientation to the consulting activity of demand- and process-oriented adult and continuing education. On the other hand, it shows how much professional action depends on micro-political processes in the company and, thirdly, it is noticeable that adult educators are confronted with polymorphic requirement profiles and therefore they have to develop hybrid professional behavioral patterns that intertwine pedagogical, bureaucratic and economic action logics.
