The OECD study examines the performance of the education system in the 35 OECD countries, as well as in a number of non-OECD countries like Costa Rica and Lithuania. In order to make the different educational levels and conditions across these countries comparable, the OECD has developed a system of indicators. The evaluations provide data on all fields, from early child to tertiary education. Participation in the education system, expenses for education, as well as the operational data of education systems and their educational outcomes constitute the centre of the above analyses. More than 270 figures and tables visualise the educational status quo within the participating countries.
The latest issue is the first one to analyse data on the imbalance between women and men within the education system, differences in income and subject groups, as well as data on the disproportionate number of female teachers and their under-representation in school administration.
