?:about
?:abstract
  • The article begins by discussing whether and to what extent the concept of the lifecourse has been used in the social history of white-collar workers in Germany and Switzerland. It then presents some results of a prosographic study on Swiss technicians (born between 1850 and 1912), which is based on obituaries in the periodical of the Swiss Technicians Association. Finally, the utility of the biographical approach for an explanation of the ideology and behaviour of Swiss technicians and their organisation is discussed. (xsd:string)
