?:abstract
  • The previous chapter has shown that EU citizens are visible actors in 24% of the EU-related news coverage during the 2009 European parliament election and their share of the total number of actors is 10%. Furthermore, when comparing the visibility of EU citizens to other actor groups that become visible in the EU-related news coverage, citizens are not a marginal group, but even exceed the visibility of civil society actors. The analysis showed that the actor structure of EU news in most EU member states matches best the discursive model of the public sphere. (xsd:string)
