?:abstract
  • In this paper I examine the relationship of nuclear risk perception and socio demographic variables in the United States, Great Britain, France, Japan and Germany in 2010. This analysis compares nuclear risk perception before the Fukushima Daichii nuclear accident. Representative samples of each country are provided by the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP 2010). As method I use separate logistic regression analysis calculating marginal effects. The results indicate that gender is a predictor for nuclear attitudes across all countries. Also higher social status and trust in political institutions results in lower levels of risk perception in some countries. Even though there are similar relationship in all five countries observable, overall the effects differ across most countries. Further research is needed to explain in more detail how the nuclear project in each countries has developed and will develop in the future. (xsd:string)
