?:abstract
  • "Robert Higgs explored the link between wars, depressions and permanent increases in public spending. A number of Public Choice scholars investigated this relationship from the perspective of lobbying, bureaucratic growth, etc., while a demand perspective, i.e. the question of changing preferences, has been ignored. The World Value Survey, the Swiss Household Panel, the General Social Survey, PEW ; ALLBUS and others suggest that individuals change their political attitudes in the aftermath of a crisis. The relationship is also tested by an experiment. I find that salience of economic crisis generates favorable attitudes toward intervention. The effect is greater for liberals than conservatives."Der Autor benutzt Daten des ALLBUS 2000-2010, um die Parteipräferenz Deutschlands im Zeitverlauf abzubilden. (xsd:string)
