?:abstract
  • Young people are often described as being particularly concerned by climate issues. This article tests this hypothesis empirically by distinguishing two different attitudes towards the environment : “weak environmentalism”, which refers a simple awareness of environmental issues, and “strong environmentalism”, which grants priority to environmental issues at the expense of economic imperatives. In both cases, the level of environmental awareness of young people under 30 does not differ significantly from that observed among other age groups, even if the determinants of this environmental concern vary somewhat with age.
