  • "When dealing with falsification sin survey data it is important to consider the characteristics of interviewers. There is some evidence that the "quality" of falsified data is particularly influenced by an interviewer's experience. We assumed that experienced interviewers are better than inexperienced interviewers at reproducing real data. In order to test this assumption, we compared real data with falsified data which was artificially generated by persons with either a lot or with relatively little rior experience as interviewers. Some indicators are characterized as formal indicators which focus on response sets. While other indicators, referred to as "content-related", take into account the response to survey questions. The results show significant differences between experienced and inexperienced interviewer: inexperienced interviewers differ more than strongly rom real respondents in terms of content-related indicators, while experienced interviewers produce greater differences from real data in formal indicators.
