  • Housing conditions are an important element in sustainable housing. European Union countries are characterised by high inequalities in this respect. The aim of the article is to access progress in overcoming this problem in the last decade. The analysis is based on Eurostat data. It was carried out using the TOPSIS method (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution). The results show that the countries analysed diff er in the level of housing deprivation, although the distance is decreasing over time. In particular, there is a noticeable decrease in the distance of the ‘new’ (2004 enlargement and later) member states to the founding countries. Housing deprivation is particularly evident in the Baltic States (especially Estonia) and the Czech Republic. (xsd:string)
