?:abstract
  • With only 23% the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) got their until now worst election result. What is a rude shock to a party which could rely on a strong voter base so far opens the opportunity to ask about the whereabouts of the former SPD voters. Did they just stay at home or did they cast their votes for another party? Which possibility has the SPD at future elections to get her former voters back? A comparison of two different voter groups – the former voters, which voted the SPD at the federal election in 2005 but not in 2009, and the loyal SPD voters – can give answers to these questions. Based on data mined by the German Longitudinal Election Study the analysis will that way show the differences between these two groups in relation to their political interest, the candidates and their views to parties and possible coalitions.
