  • On the basis of the study Competencies in Later Life (CiLL), the authors present cornerstones of competencies in later life. First results of the surveys and determinations of competencies are differentiated according to individual sections of the population. Of particular interest is the question of in how far continuing education plays a role in promoting basic and everyday competencies. It is shown that educationally active older people have higher competencies in dealing with age-specific tasks than people who do not participate in further education. Furthermore, older active people make use of further education in the context of social participation and civic involvement. (xsd:string)
